Certified translations
If you need a translation for official purposes (work or study abroad, legal proceedings, contracts, etc.), then it needs to be certified, or sworn. In the Netherlands, only translators who have been found competent and sworn in by a Dutch court may certify a translation.

A sworn translation is not by definition better than an ‘ordinary’ translation. The actual words will be the same in 99 out of 100 cases. A certified translation is always accompanied by an official declaration before or after the translated text in which the translator states that he or she has made a true and faithful translation and that he or she has the legal authority to certify the translation. The translator will also stamp the translation and in some cases, the source document.

If you are not sure whether you need a certified translation, we will be happy to advise you.
